Yoga is used to achieve peacefulness of body and
mind, helping you relax and manage stress and anxiety. Here at Heather's, we
teach Hatha Yoga, which can help decrease the stress of life's daily hassles. Our
classes are for beginners, featuring slower-paced and more effortless movements,
with an intermediate class for others. The potential health benefits of yoga
are stress reduction, increased well-being, weight loss, increased flexibility,
and management of any disease or disorder.
"The Happiest Place on Earth" Yoga
After all,
make it a small world by relaxing your mind and body and feeling
the stress start to dissipate during the first few minutes. Yoga is the practice
of body awareness, showing how the mind and the body work together. Breathing is
the secret to reaching the mind/body connection. As Americans, we live stressful
lives, and our breathing tends to be very shallow. We tighten up our muscles and
somehow forget to relax them. Subsequently, this causes blockages in our bodies,
leading to disease. In yoga, we learn deep breathing, which conditions body
metabolism, lowers blood pressure and heart rate, stabilizes brain wave frequencies,
and causes RELAXATION! Let's not forget how good it feels.
Yoga is a series of different body stretches called postures.
Yoga is holistic, meaning it works the whole body. It strengthens and lengthens
the muscles in the body, helps eliminate aches and pains, increases your flexibility,
and can reverse the aging process. It brings on a feeling of relaxation, balance,
and clarity. It can make you stronger, inside and out.
Yoga Works the Following Systems
- Circulatory (blood)
- Respiratory (lungs)
- Endocrine (glands)
- Cardiovascular (heart)
- Muscular system
- Nervous system
- Digestion system
- Skeleton (bones)
- Articulation (joints)
Yoga can strengthen your major muscles (legs, arms, and lower
back), minor muscles (wrists, hands, and fingers), and organs (heart, lungs, veins,
nerves, and tendons).
Yoga is a great place to start, especially if you have not been
exercising for a long time. Beginner Yoga classes can be slower and easier to do.
It doesn't matter how old or out of shape you are. However, it is always wise to consult a physician if you
have any health concerns. Many people feel they need to be flexible before
starting a yoga class when it is the opposite. People who start to do yoga will
become flexible. Get on the mat, relax,
and burn that fat!
